Literature Text

Beneath the shade,
Sunbeams break through the cracks

Lines across my body,
I trace them

Temporarily extinguishing,

The power of life
At my fingertips,

As I push at the splinters
Erupting from the ground

They cannot hurt me,
Unless I choose them to

The skin dips at their penetration

But does not pierce
The harder you press

The less likely the run of blood

Trails down your arm
Like rain down the windowpane

Crossing through the face of one
Who stares trying to discover who

They are

With one hand upon a photograph
And another upon salvation

A storm inside a storm inside a stone
In the palm of Aiolos

Skipping merrily down the stream,
Minnows flirting with its path

Crusted and desolate
An underside smooth and dipped

Leading down to the river
The minnows flee,

The birds break waters path

Droplets flee to tiny petals
Landing upon ladybirds noses.

And upon my fingertip
Protecting me

From the splinters piercing blade.
Not sure why I wrote this
